A Taste of Tradition: The Art of Tea at Rosewood Hotel Georgia

Looking for an activity in Vancouver to escape the cold and rain? Cosy up with afternoon tea at the 1927 Lounge at Rosewood Hotel Georgia.
The Art of Tea is the perfect weekend treat, surrounded by the glamour and history of one of Vancouver’s iconic hotels. Tea is served on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 3 PM. The intimate setting, beautiful surroundings and heritage of the hotel make the experience feel special from the moment you sit down.
In my opinion, all afternoon tea should start with Champagne. It gives you something to sip on as you settle in, catch up with your friend, and peruse the menu. It’s the perfect way to ease into the experience and set the tone for the afternoon ahead.
For tea, you can choose from a selection of premium loose-leaf teas to enjoy alongside the food. The menu features classic afternoon tea favourites, including house-made scones, savoury sandwiches and seasonal sweets.
Are you a sweet or salty person? I’m definitely more of a salty girl, so I always look forward to the savoury offerings at afternoon tea. I’m also curious to see what creative ideas they come up with beyond the more traditional sandwiches. For me, the tamago sando and lemongrass chicken were standouts in terms of flavour. The lobster and champagne feuilleté and tomato tart were also delicious, with the flaky pastry complementing the fillings beautifully.
The scones were definitely a highlight. Warm, buttery and perfect with tea, they were exactly what I want from a traditional afternoon tea.
Then came the desserts. The seasonal sweets were beautifully presented and made the whole experience feel extra special. There is something about enjoying tiny pastries and sweets from a tiered afternoon tea stand that makes an ordinary afternoon feel like an occasion.
What I loved most about afternoon tea at Hotel Georgia was the combination of classic tradition and Vancouver elegance. Nothing felt overly complicated—the focus was on good tea, beautifully prepared bites and taking the time to slow down and enjoy the afternoon.
If you’re in Vancouver and looking for a refined afternoon tea experience, I would definitely recommend adding the 1927 Lounge at Rosewood Hotel Georgia to your list. It’s the kind of afternoon that is meant to be savoured slowly, one cup of tea at a time.
