Polka Dots and Patios

Polka dots are everywhere this summer.

From matching sets to dresses I have been unintentionally drawn to purchasing various polka dot outfits. This gorgeous blue Rixo dress is perfect for the summer. I used to buy many Rixo dresses but recently had not purchased any. While looking for new summer dresses I was drawn into their current colour scheme, prints and styles. The tie halter neckline is flattering on the shoulders. I love the tie bow detail at the neck. Although the dress is long the lose fit is nice and breathable for a hot summer day. Rixo also has some metal belts which you could style with this dress if wanted.

I wore this dress for a patio afternoon at the Fairmont Empress with my puppy Penelope. This dress is the perfect example of afternoon chic. It is dressy without being formal and perfect to dress up or down. I wore low heeled strappy gold sandals and a straw bad to make it less formal and daytime appropriate.

If you live in or are visiting Victoria you should check out the Veranda at the Fairmont Empress. The Veranda has gorgeous harbour views and gets the most beautiful sunsets. The lower Veranda is pet friendly. It was great being able to take Penelope to one of my favourite restaurants for a relaxing afternoon.

The food at The Empress never disappoints. The charcuterie and cheese, albacore crudo and artichoke caponata were all delicious. You can’t go wrong with any of the cocktails. If you like champagne cocktails you should try the Empress 75. It is the hotel’s version of a French 75 using their Empres 1908 gin. Other cocktails I love are the Possibly Maybe which is a mezcal margarita with hibiscus tea or the Bengal Sour.
